What you´ll do

The SHE Specialist supports the implementation and continuous improvement of safety, health, and environmental programs at the site. This role works closely with operations and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, promote a strong safety culture, and support environmental performance.
This is an entry-level position designed to develop foundational SHE technical knowledge and provide hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. 

  • Support and maintain site SHE management systems, including ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety). 
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local SHE regulations, as well as internal company standards. 
  • Conduct routine safety and environmental inspections to identify hazards, compliance gaps, and improvement opportunities. 
  • Assist in identifying workplace hazards and recommending corrective actions to reduce risk. 
  • Participate in incident investigations (safety and environmental), including root cause analysis and follow-up of corrective actions. 
  • Support hazardous waste management activities, including inspections, labeling, storage, and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with environmental permits and programs, including air emissions, wastewater, and stormwater requirements. 
  • Support regulatory reporting and recordkeeping, including environmental logs, waste tracking, and SHE performance data. 
  • Assist in spill prevention, response activities, and environmental incident follow-up. 
  • Support development and delivery of SHE training programs (e.g., Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, etc.). 
  • Track, analyze, and report SHE metrics to identify trends and support continuous improvement efforts. 
  • Partner with operations to integrate SHE requirements into daily work activities and reinforce safe behaviors. 
  • Respond to employee concerns related to safety, health, and environmental conditions. 
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and interactions with internal stakeholders and external regulatory agencies.

What makes you a good fit

  • B.S. in Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field highly preferred.
  • 1-3 years experience with SHE management related functions and administration preferably within the chemical industry or an industrial/manufacturing setting highly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA regulations and general environmental compliance requirements (e.g., hazardous waste, air, or water programs). 
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems or similar structured programs. 
  • Strong ability to identify hazards and support risk-based decision making in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with operators, supervisors, and management. 
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends using standard tools (e.g., Excel) to support SHE performance improvement. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on tasks. 
  • Ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams in a production-driven environment. 
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including the ability to support root cause analysis and corrective actions. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and develop technical SHE
  • knowledge.

The salary for this role is $85,000.00 - $115,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
